First Bloodletting Activity in Umingan was a Total Success!


Local Goverment Unit of Umingan in collaboration with Philippine National Red Cross, Pangasinan Chapter spearheaded the First Bloodletting Activity in the municipality dubbed “Give Blood, Give Life!” last July 16, 2009. The activity conducted at the Municipal Gymnasium, Umingan, Pangasinan was mainly participated by Municipal Employees, members of the different Barangay Councils, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), members of Umingan Police Station, members of the BJMP Umingan and walk-in participants. Prior to the actual bloodletting activity was a short program which was also attended by Vice Governor Marlyn P. Agabas together with Board members Tyrone D. Agabas and Alfonso C. Bince Jr., members of the Sangunniang Bayan and our beloved Municipal Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon, CE-GE and members of Philippine National Red Cross, Pangasinan Chapter headed by Chief Administrator Florame S. Magalong. Alongside the bloodletting activity was a Hand Washing Campaign in line with the recent emerging threat of AH1N1 virus or the so-called swine flu. Said hand washing activities were conducted at the campuses of the various primary and secondary schools, (Umingan Central Elementary School, Quezon Memorial Academy, Umingan National High School and Immaculate Conception Catholic School). During the said Hand Washing event, hand washing soaps and hand sanitizers were distributed to help keep students as well as teachers safe and clean.

Mayor Tumbocon Awarded by OWWA!

On the recently concluded “Araw ng Pasasalamat” event of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region I held at Pacoy Ortega Gym, San Fernando La Union, our Local Chief Executive Eldred P. Tumbocon, CE-CE was recognized and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from OWWA Region I for his support and active participation in promoting the welfare of both Overseas Filipino Workers and their families within the municipality and was awarded by Ms. Marivic L. Mondina, OIC OWWA Regional Welfare Officer I during the said event. The Local Government Unit of Umingan has installed its own OWWA Desk and has appointed Ms. Crescel V. Dela Cruz as OWWA Migrant Desk officer last May 30, 2008 to accommodate and provide assistance to Overseas Filipino Workers and their families. Umingan is the only municipality (in the entire 6th District of Pangasinan) with its own OFW Association consisting of ninety members as of this date.
