Programs
supporting regular vaccination of dogs have contributed both to the health of dogs
and to the public health. In Municipalities where anti-rabies vaccination is
practiced, it resulted to reduced and sometimes zero rabies incidence.
Relative
to this, a team of Veterinary Science of Medicine students from Central Luzon State
University in
coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office helped in the conduct of
anti-rabies vaccination. The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian identified
Poblacion East as barangay with case of rabies positive.
A
certain Aldrich Te from Poblacion East reported the case to the Provincial
Office. OPVET immediately scheduled the vaccination and provided the Municipal
Agriculture Office with 200 shots of anti-rabies vaccines.
The
Barangay Council headed by Barangay Captain Mario A. Fernandez fully supported
the activity and provided Barangay Health Workers as guides for the combined
CLSU Vet. Med students and some Agricultural Technologist from the MAO. The house to house anti-rabies vaccination
was held on January 20,2014
The
Local Government of Umingan through the Municipal Agriculture Office will be
conducting a massive anti-rabies vaccination starting February of 2014. The
team will be covering 57 barangays. A brief lecture on the importance of having
the dogs vaccinated will be conducted before the vaccination.
