Umingan National High School wins in Luzon Milo Little Olympics


Umingan National High School bags the championship title in the recently concluded Luzon Milo Little Olympics held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Complex in Lingayen, Pangasinan. The event was participated by Regions I, II, III and CAR. Umingan National High School team won out of 77 competing schools coming from different parts of Luzon. UNHS defeated the 5-time defending champion Holy Angel University, Pampanga. UNHS is now the contender in the forthcoming 2011 National Milo Little Olympics on November 17 – 21, 2011 at Lingayen, Pangasinan. They will be competing with the winners of NCR, Visayas and Mindanao.
SK Federated President Raisa M. Tumbocon and ABC President Michael Carleone M. Cruz donated balls for the team.

3rd Blood-Letting Activity and Medical Mission

The 3rd Bloodletting activity which was dubbed as “Share Life, Give Blood” was held last July 15,2011 at the Umingan Municipal Gymnasium. The event was made possible through the effort of the Local Government of Umingan headed by Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross-Pangasinan Chapter headed by Ms. Florame S. Magalong. A medical mission was conducted simultaneously at the same venue. A total of thirty six (36) successful donors were able to donate 450cc of blood each. The Blood-letting activity has been an annual event of the Local Government since it’s launching on July 16, 2009. The event coincides with the birthday of the Hon. Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon.

Barangay Officials Attended Training on Disaster Management


Some barangay officials from identified low lying areas of Umingan attended a 3-day training on Basic Disaster Management last June 13, 14 & 15, 2011. The activity was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Brgy. Don Montano . The training aims to equip the Barangay officials on what to do before, during and after a certain disaster. The participants were asked to make a spot map which will help them distinguish the hazards and strength of their respective barangays. The trainer also discussed the basics of first aid. Basic Disaster Management Training was made possible through the collaboration of the Philippine Red Cross , Pangasinan Chapter and the Local Government of Umingan headed by Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon and the Sangguniang Bayan.

TRC Conducted Beaded Accessories Training for Umingan Local Council of Women


A livelihood training course on Beaded Accessories was held on March 22, 2011 at the NGO Building of Umingan,Pangasinan. It was sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Umingan headed by Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon through the initiative of Ms Camila M. Tumbocon, the Honorary Chairwoman of ULCW, and in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office headed by Ms Elma C. Bequio and ULCW President Ms Lovenia Jasmin.
Trainers were from the Technology Resource Center, San Juan City, Metro Manila. A total of 32 women from different barangays actively participated in the training.
The activity is in line with the vision of the Umingan Local Council of Women (ULCW) which is “Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship”. It also coincide with the celebration of International Women’s Month.
Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon showed his support for the empowerment of women by gracing the affair with a message of encouragement for the trainees. DILG officer Carmen Rosario C. Rafanan also gave a message.
Participants of the said training were able to come up with beautiful and intricate designs of earrings, charm bracelets, cellphone holder, key chains and many more. They learned the basics of Beaded Accessory making. Given the proper guidance, it showed a great potential for the ULCW members to earn extra cash for the family should they decide to make it a full time business since this kind of venture only needs small capital and can be utilized even in the confines of their homes. Ms Camila M. Tumbocon together with the ULCW secretariat are working on the follow-up activities of the group.

Klinika iti Away: Serbisyo iti Salun-at para iti Umili


As the name implies, Klinika iti Away (Serbisyo iti Salun-at para iti Umili) is a Mobile Clinic that visits barangays every Tuesday and Friday. It is aimed to provide free medical assistance and medicines to the townspeople of Umingan. We first visited Barangay Calitlitan last April 12, 2011. Mayor ELDRED P. TUMBOCON and the First Lady Mdm. CAMILA M. TUMBOCON graced the launching of this project. As of this writing, Klinika iti Away has already visited Barangays Calitlitan, Evangelista, Labuan, Cabalitian, San Pablo, San Juan, Baracbac and Diaz. It will cover fifty five barangays. Klinika iti Away is just one of the many special projects under the administration of Mayor ELDRED P. TUMBOCON and Sangguniang Bayan presided by Vice Mayor ALAIN P. RABANG. This special project is under the Executive-Legislative Agenda.

Another Victory for Umingan Delegates at the National Collegiate Games 2011

Umingan delegates once again went home with happy faces as they brought with them honor in the recently concluded National Collegiate Games 2011 at Zamboanga City held last April 18 – 14, 2011. Rose Vi P. Membrado bagged the 3rd Place in the 5,000 meter walk and 4th Place in the 10,000 meter walk. Elmer John Casildo got the 1st Place in the 4x400 meter relay and 3rd Place in the 800 meter run. Vanesa P. Membrado finished as the 2nd Placer in the 5,000 meter walk while Hadji Bravo took home the 5th Place in the High Jump Competition.

The Umingan National High School (UNHS) and Umingan Central Elementary School (UCES) went home victorious after bagging a total of thirteen (13) medals and three (3) trophies for UNHS and thirteen (13) medals for UCES at the recently concluded Ilocos Region Athletic Association (IRAA) last March 14 – 19, 2011 held at Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, Lingayen Pangasinan.

Prior to IRAA, delegates from UNHS also bagged a total of twenty nine (29) medals during the Division Meet held last December 13-18, 2010 at Tayug, Pangasinan.

The victorious athletes who will represent Ilocos Region in the upcoming 2011 Palarong Pambansa on May 14-19, 2011 at Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte will be given again financial assistance and support by the Local Government of Umingan. The delegates from UNHS were coached by Ms. Janette Banaga, Ms. Hilaria Valencia, Ms.Carmelita Aquinde, Mr. Eusebio Solis and Mr. Virgilio P. Padila, the Over-all Coach & Trainor. The delegates from UCES were coached by Mr. Howell Hope M. Vergara, Mr. Abraham Agsalog, Mr. Julius Arata and Mr. Robert Mira. Their officiating officials were Ms. Ma.
