CFC Free Medical and Dental Mission
Last Saturday, December 14, 2013, the Local
Government Unit of Umingan headed by Municipal Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon,
Immaculate Conception Parish headed by Rev. Fr. Jess S. Prado in cooperation
with the Couples for Christ and its Family Ministries and ANCOP (Answering the
Call of the Poor) conducted a free dental and medical mission at Immaculate
Conception Catholic School. The medical team was composed of doctors and
practitioners from VMU and the Municipal Health Officer and nurses from
LGU-Umingan. They served a total of 126 medical patients and 53 dental
patients. Medicines dispensed were donated by Cong. Marlyn L. Primicias- Agabas
and LGU Umingan
Balitok a Tawir, Year 3
The provincial government of Pangasinan recently
concluded Balitok a Tawir, Year 3 on December 10, 2013 at Sison Auditorium,
Lingayen. Balitok a Tawir is the official culture and arts festival of
Pangasinan.
The affair was graced by no less than the father
of the province Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. , Vice Gov. Jose Ferdinand Z.
Calimlim and participated by twenty
three (23) delegations from Asingan, Bautista,
Sto. Tomas, Alcala, Basista, Laoac, Burgos, Sta. Barbara, Mabini, Umingan,
Agno, Bayambang, San Nicolas, Bugallon, Villasis, Malasiqui, Tayug, San Manuel,
Mangaldan, Sison, Bani, Binmaley and Alaminos City. The delegates displayed
creativity and artistry and competed in three (3) categories: choral singing,
folk dancing and zarzuela.
Umingan ranked number 6 out of 13
entries in the Choral Singing category. We also took home the Best in Execution
of Repertoire award and ranked number 5 out of 19 entries in the Folk Dancing
category.

The Most Outstanding Irrigators’ Association is from Umingan
Riverside Irrigators’ Association of San Juan,
Umingan, Pangasinan garnered the 5th Runner-Up in the Most
Outstanding Irrigators’ Association (Communal Irrigation Systems Category) 2013
during the 50th Anniversary of the National Irrigation Administration held at
Diliman, Quezon City last June 25, 2013.
Prior to this, Riverside Irrigators’ Association of
San Juan bagged the Most Outstanding Irrigators’ Association in Region I. It
was awarded to them by Director Manuel Collado of NIA – Region 1 Office.

ANCOP GLOBAL WALK 2013
The Local Government
Unit of Umingan joined the whole world in the Answering the Cry of the Poor
(ANCOP) Global Walk 2013: Walk for a Scholar, Walk with Me last August 25,
2013. It was headed by the Local Chief Executive of this town, Mayor Eldred P.
Tumbocon. Delegates assembled at the Municipal Auditorium. It started at 5:00 in the morning with a
short program followed by the walk from the auditorium to Barangay Cabatuan to
the Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass. Delegates came from the towns
of Balungao, Sta. Maria, Sta. Barbara,
San Manuel, Laoac, Alcala and Umingan. These delegates are the Couples for
Christ and its family ministries: Servants of the Lord, Handmaids of the Lord,
Youth for Christ, Singles for Christ and Kids for Christ. Local PNP personnel
headed by Chief of Police PCI Romegio D. Yapes and two hundred (200) employees
of the Local Government Unit of Umingan also registered for this cause. Prizes
were also given away for the following:

First group to arrive
The Global Walk here in Umingan also conducted a
raffle draw (only Umingan) and some of the winners from here are: Engr. Manuel
Bueno, Teresita Ezperanzate, Norma Salagubang, Danish Yvonne Mizpah M. Noble,
Vilma L. Abalos and Peter Casumpang.

Klinika iti Away, Cycle 3
The Local Government
Unit of Umingan through its Medical Team concluded the 3rd cycle of
Klinika iti Away last July 26, 2013. Klinika iti Away is a mobile clinic for
barangay consultation and is a special project in consonance with the Six-Point Program of
Governance of the present administration headed by Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon and
the Sangguninag Bayan presided by Vice Mayor Alain P. Rabang, under the health
program. It is envisioned that health
concern is one of our priorities in the Executive – Legislative Agenda. This “Klinika iti Away” is one action
activity for this purpose. This project is designed to be a continuous cycle of
consultations, covering 55 out of 58 barangays of the municipality (consults from Poblacion East and Poblcacion
West are addressed daily in RHU I; patients are admitted in RHU II in Brgy.
Cabaruan every Tuesday and Thursday). This
activity is being conducted every Tuesday and Friday and is designed to provide access to basic health services to
residents of remote barangays in the municipality particularly those who belong
to the lower income bracket. These
services include the diagnosis of illnesses, dispensing of medicines, nebulization,
debridgement and dressing of wounds, health counseling, provision of first aid
to minor injuries and referral to other health institutions as deemed necessary.
Cycle 3 of Klinika iti Away has served a total of eight thousand five
hundred fifty one (8,551) patients (please refer to the pictures). Brgy. San
Leon topped the list for this cycle as we have served 288 patients there.

Sports Victory at National Collegiate Games
Delegates
from Umingan once again took home pride and honor as they won in the recently concluded National
Collegiate Games held at Lingayen, Pangasinan last February 10-16, 2013. Rose
Vi P. Membrado of Brgy. Diket bagged the 1st Place in the 10K meter
walk, Men’s Division. His sister, Villy Jane P. Membrado got the 4th
Place in the 5K meter walk, Women’s Division. Hadji Bravo of Brgy.
Nancalabasaan finished in 2nd place in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Mark
Anthony Brucio and Elmer John Casildo, also from Brgy. Nancalabasaan, took home
the 5th & 6th place respectively for the 800 meter
run. Ryan Advincula from Evangelista got the 4th Place in Long Jump.

Wheelchair and Walker Donation
Mr. & Mrs. Danny S. Reyes, balikbayans from
Canada once again made a donation to the Local Government Unit of Umingan. Last
Friday, they donated 2 units of wheelchair and 2 units of walker. These
donations will be turned over to the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and
Development to be distributed also to people who are in need of the said materials.
Another thumbs up for this kindhearted couple who
never get tired in augmenting the medical needs of their kababayans. Mayor
Eldred P. Tumbocon, Vice Mayor Alain P. Rabang and Municipal Administrator Gil
O. Tadeo received the donation.
