The
Local Government Unit of Umingan joined the nation in commemorating the
Philippines’ 114th independence
day. The activity was headed by the Municipal Mayor Eldred P. TUmbocon together
with the sangguniang bayan head Vice Mayor Alain P. Rabang and the sangguniang
bayan members.it was a simple yet meaningful way to look back and pay tribute
to those who fought hard for the country’s freedom. A short program was
held in front of the Umingan Municipal hall . The Municipal Accounting Office
headed by Mrs. Aurora E. Supnet led the singing of the national anthem. Local COP
Jesus O. Manalo delivered a message followed by Vice Mayor Alain P Rabang
.Mayor Eldred P. Tumbocon looked back on how Filipinos fought to regain freedom
from the country’s oppressor dating back from the Spanish Colony, the
American occupation and the Japanese
invasion.And now in the face of the rift between the China and the Philippines,
he challenged the crowd present in the event to be more vigilant and to always
fight for freedom from tyrant be it foreign or local.The short program was
followed by a wreath laying on the monuments of Gat Andres Bonifacio, Dr. Jose
Rizal and the Unknown Soldier.
The
activity was attended by more than 200 municipal employees,Also in attendance
were DepEd Umingan District I Supervisor Elvira C. Mones and DepEd Umingan
District II Supervisor Mr. Reynoldo M.
Deoferio together with the teaching force from Districts I and II;
This
year’s 114th Independence Day
event was celebrated with the national theme”Kalayaan:Pananagutan ng Bayan Para
sa Tuwid na Daan”.
