The Philippine Red Cross in coordination with the
Local Government Unit of Umingan conducted a series of activities in some
identified barangays in Umingan to combat the occurrence of dengue in the
municipality. On September 10, Red Cross collected Baseline Survey from five
(5) barangays. September 14 to 18 Red Cross volunteers conducted Information
Dissemination; September 20 and 21 a massive clean-up drive was conducted;
September 28 through a Mass Blood Donation, Red Cross was able to collect fifty
four (54) bags of blood from the Municipality of Umingan; on September 3 and 4
Red Cross together with the community developed a Dengue Preparedness Plan to
combat rampant incidence of dengue in the communities. Umingan ranked no. 3 in
the whole province of Pangasinan in terms of dengue prevalence. Five (5)
barangays were identified as high risk in dengue: Maseil-seil, Alo-o, Bantug,
Pemienta and Poblacion West
